Kumari began her community work at a young age, growing up she volunteered for the Sri Lankan Children’s Welfare Trust, assisting to raise money for the orphanage she was adopted from. She has worked in youth welfare and poverty alleviation for the past 12 years for organisations including Breaking Free, The Oaktree Foundation, Make Poverty History, Homeless World Cup, RYPEN and Holgar El Refugio (Argentina). Kumari is the Deputy Chair of Women with Disabilities Victoria Boards of Directors and sits on the Young Social Pioneers Advisory Board. Kumari is also studying Criminal Justice and Social and Community Welfare at Monash University and received a scholarship to attend the School of Social Entrepreneurs in 2011. She holds qualifations in Community Development, Dance and Performance and Adult HIV Education. Kumari has also been selected for FYA's Young Social Pioneers Fellowship, Australia's Brightest Young Minds Summit, Cordes Fellowship in Mexico and the Australian Youth Led Convention. |

Sipho started at Youth for Christ in 2004 as a Volunteer in the Change Agents and served there for two years, where he underwent considerab le self development and examined his life and value system. In 2006 Sipho was appointed as a school facilitator in the Yazini project in Pietermaritzburg. an exciting position which lead him to be selected for the Schools 4 Schools partnership exchange program to Australia in 2008. Currently Sipho is serving as a GoLD Project Manager for ISAAC (International Strategic Alliance of Apostolic Churches). Sipho has studied performing arts at the Durban Arts Academy and community development at UNISA. Sipho’s passionate and approachable nature has positively changed the lives of hundreds of youth in South Africa, and he is much respected in his community for the work he is doing. Earlier this year Sipho, along with Kumari and Daniel ran an International Youth Dance and Development Forum in KwaZulu-Natal and an International Dance Tour to South Africa. |
Zoe Condliffe - Cambodian Country Manager
Zoë started working with Mayibuye because she is passionate about the arts, and its ability to instill confidence into the lives of young people. Zoe is currently studying international development and photography at Monash University. She received a scholarship to the School for Social Entrepreneurs, where she developed Mayibuye’s newest initiative: Mayibuye Cambodia. She has taught English in Cambodia with Globalteer at a local NGO, and undertaken an internship with Youth Challenge International, studying community development and working in a rural Guyanese community promoting literacy. Zoe has been involved in the Make Poverty History movement with Oaktree in 2010. In 2011 she received the 30under30 award from Anthill Magazine as one of the top 30 young entrepreneurs in Australia. She has also made an appearance in The Age Melbourne Magazine as one Melbourne's Top 100 most influential, inspirational, provocative and creative people for 2011. Zoe is excited to be combining her love for dancing, the arts and education with her passion for working with young people and Cambodia |
Bridgett Cains - Australian Project Manager Bridgett is an independent dancer who began volunteering with youth and the arts as a teenager, with roles in childcare, production, administration and construction with organisations such as Edmund Rice Camps SA, Australian Festival for Young People, Adelaide Fringe Youth & Education Program, and the Seaview Performing Arts Center for Education (Hawai'i). She is passionate about using dance as a means to educate and inspire young people to lead healthy lives and to achieve their goals. Bridgett has performed, taught and trained across Australia and the US, and has produced solo and ensemble shows for festivals and events. She has also worked as a children's entertainer, camp counselor, dance and circus teacher, fitness instructor and live-in nanny, has completed a stage management internship with Charody Productions, and is currently studying Theatre Arts through Victoria University. She initially joined Mayibuye as a Dance Facilitator in 2011, helping to compile the dance curriculum for our performance troupes and plan our first Stand Centre Front conference. |
